I recently went on my first trip to Scotland, spending four days in Edinburgh. The Scottish capital truly exceeded my expectations – it sits between two extinct volcanoes, is picturesque with pretty architecture and cobbled streets, and is very compact, making walking between the Old and New Town easy. 2021 has been all about staycations. This summer, I have visited Brighton, Portsmouth, Windsor, Edinburgh, Bristol and Cambridge.
However, we all know that travelling, even within our home country, can become very expensive. To save on costs for my recent two-day trip to Bristol, I decided to travel with National Express for the first time! Continue reading to see how much I saved and the reasons why I loved travelling by coach…
Portsmouth is known as the UK’s ‘great waterfront city’, featuring a historic dockyard and naval base. Its location on England’s south coast makes it the perfect destination for a day trip or weekend staycation from London. I visited this port city at the end of June for the first time and loved it! After over a year of lockdowns, I have been craving a holiday for a very long time. Despite the fact that restrictions are starting to ease, the UK’s travel traffic light system realistically means that a holiday abroad still feels quite far from reach. With that in mind, I am planning to go on a few UK staycations, which I hope inspire you to explore your home country too! I went to Brighton, in East Sussex, during the end of May bank holiday weekend and with great company, sizzling sunshine and blue seas, definitely had the best time! Here are the top things to do whilst on a staycation in this vibrant city by the sea.
There are so many beautiful cities in Europe, but Lisbon is definitely one of the best I have visited. It is the oldest city in Western Europe, with incredible historical sights, majestic panoramic views and vintage wooden trams. Lisbon is known as ‘the city of light’, owing to the sunshine which brightens the entire capital, with approximately 220 days of sunlight each year! I flew to Lisbon for a weekend break and carefully planned my trip beforehand, to make the most of my 48 hours there. Is Lisbon on your list of places to visit? Continue reading to see the best that the Portuguese capital has to offer!
Today, the snow brightened up another lockdown Sunday and brought with it some much needed cheer and happiness!
There’s no denying that 2020 has been a difficult year for us all, but thankfully the sparkly Christmas light displays have gone up around the capital, to bring some much needed joy into our lives!
Here are the displays that I love the most from this year’s collection in London’s West End. If you are not able to go and see them in person this year due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place, I hope you can enjoy them from my photos 🙂
St. Pancras International never fails to impress with it’s annual Christmas tree. This year’s display has been unveiled as the 34ft high ‘Tree of Hope’, in partnership with EL&N London (formerly known as Élan Café).
