A review of the Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC

A review of the Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC

I stayed at the newly-opened Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC in November during the COP26 climate change summit. Being in Glasgow for over two weeks meant I was keen to stay at a hotel that was in a good and convenient location, which provided comfort, and the Courtyard offered just that!

1) Very convenient location

This Courtyard by Marriott is located within the Glasgow SEC campus, making it a convenient place to stay if you are in Glasgow for a conference, exhibition or event at the Exhibition Centre, the OVO Hydro or the Armadillo. It is only about a five minute walk from Exhibition Centre station and the River Clyde and Finnieston area are a short walk away, so it is also a perfect place to stay if you are in Glasgow for a holiday.

2) Spacious and comfortable rooms

The hotel has 216 rooms, all with flexible workspaces, free high-speed wifi, large screen TVs, desks and comfy beds and chairs, perfect to recharge after a long days work! I particularly liked the fact that even though I stayed at the hotel in November when the outside temperature was always below 10C, the heating and insulation inside the rooms made it feel like it was about 20-25C indoors!

3) Clean and COVID-19 secure

The staff worked to ensure that the hotel was continuously kept clean and that all COVID-19 protocols were followed. The room cleaning service was once every two-three days to limit contact, but I was able to call reception if I required any toiletries or towels which were brought to my room very quickly.

The Marriott’s current motto is to “travel with confidence during COVID-19” and I definitely felt like I was able to.

4) Great breakfast

There was an abundant choice of food at breakfast, with both hot and light options. This included a range of boxed cereals, pastries, toast, yoghurts and fruits. The waiters were really friendly and the restaurant was always kept clean.

The hotel’s breakfast hours are between 6-10am during the weekdays and 6-11am at weekends.

Overall, I had a really pleasant and enjoyable stay at the Courtyard – I definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Glasgow!
