Pyramids of Giza

The Pyramids of Giza are the most iconic symbols of Egypt and are the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Their sheer scale against the desert horizon creates an awe-inspiring backdrop for photography. Sunrise and sunset cast golden hues across the ancient stones, making the pyramids an unforgettable and photogenic marvel.

Sphinx

Guarding the Pyramids for millennia, the Great Sphinx is another quintessential Egyptian landmark. Its enigmatic face, half-lion and half-human, is framed perfectly by the desert sands and pyramids in the distance. Capturing the Sphinx with its timeless expression is a must for any traveller’s photo collection.

Grand Egyptian Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Plateau, opened on 1st November 2025 and it was a privilege to be able to visit soon after the grand opening. It is the largest museum in the world and one of the most expensive museums ever built, with costs exceeding US $1 billion. Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects, its striking modern architecture, with vast glass façades, a grand atrium, and a dramatic staircase, offers phenomenal photo opportunities. Inside, the museum houses over 100,000 artifacts – among them the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures displayed together for the first time.

Cairo

Cairo’s energy is magnetic, offering a rich blend of old and new. The capital city’s bustling Khan El Khalili Bazaar is filled with vibrant stalls, spices, lanterns, and handicrafts that burst with colour. The skyline, punctuated by minarets and historic mosques, offers captivating views, while the Nile at sunset reflects the city’s rhythm in golden light.

Alexandria

A three-hour drive away from Cairo and on the shores of the Mediterranean, Alexandria offers a completely different atmosphere. Its Corniche, a sweeping waterfront promenade, is perfect for coastal shots. The modern Alexandria contrasts beautifully with Roman ruins and ancient catacombs, while the sea breeze and Mediterranean light give every photo a dreamy touch.
