After a scenic drive from Cape Town, arriving at the Aquila Safari Lodge felt like stepping into another world, one where luxury met the untamed beauty of the African wilderness. The warm welcome set the tone for what was to come, and soon I found myself settling into the serene lodge surrounded by rugged mountains and wide-open skies. The pool area, with its inviting loungers and views of the reserve, was the perfect spot to unwind and take it all in. Before the game drive, we were treated to a delicious buffet lunch, which included an impressive spread of local and international dishes.

The real magic began once we boarded the safari vehicle and rolled out into the reserve. With each turn of the bumpy trail anticipation grew, and then, one by one, the Big Five and many other animals began to appear…
