My favourite photography props

You’ll see from my travel photos that I like to be creative with my shots. My roaming backpack has my favourite photography props which I’m always eager to take out and use at any opportunity!

If you’re looking for some inspiration and want to step up your travel photography game, continue reading to see the props that I use to create unique photos!

1) Glass ball

I’ve been using my glass ball for over three years now and it has been the most fun prop to experiment with in so many creative ways. The ball creates a 180-degree effect with the subject in front being flipped upside down.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai
Catalina Island, California
Chureito Pagoda, Japan

2) Scrabble letters

Hands up if like me, Scrabble was one of your favourite games when you were younger?! I recently thought that using the Scrabble tiles to form words based on a holiday destination and placing these at a landmark would be a super cool and innovative way to create some unique shots – these pictures have definitely been a conversation starter!

And in case you’re wondering, I don’t take all the Scrabble letters that come in the box with me! I only take the letters that I need to form the particular words of the place I’m visiting 😊

Twin Peaks, San Francisco
Burj Al Arab, Dubai
Niagara Falls, Ontario
Acropolis, Athens

3) Camera lens filter

I experimented using an old camera lens filter as another prop, first on my adventures around London, and found that it is a really good way to provide a new frame to photos. Since then, I’ve been taking it on my trips abroad!

4) Polaroid shots

A few years ago, I treated myself to a Fujifilm instax mini 9, which is a cute compact instant camera. There are many reasons why I enjoy travelling, but two of the main reasons are for the experience and for the memories.

Polaroid photos are super fun to take and are the perfect travel souvenir. When you look back at them, you’ll instantly be taken back to the very moment you took them!

Dubai Marina, UAE

5) Magnets

One of the first things I do when I land into a new country is buy a travel magnet! I always do this at the start of my trip and keep it in my backpack so I can take pictures with it when I’m out and about in the city 🙂
