There’s no better way to ring in the holidays than with a festive lunch high above the city. I went to the Madame Brasserie where I had a delicious three-course meal paired with panoramic views. As I gazed out over the rooftops of Paris, the winter light sparkled across the Seine, and the atmosphere felt straight out of a Christmas movie. It’s the perfect start to a magical trip to the city.
When Paris is dressed in its festive best, a River Seine cruise is an absolute must. Glide past illuminated landmarks like the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and of course, the Eiffel Tower shimmering with its evening sparkle. Wrap up warm, listen to Christmas tunes and let the gentle hum of the river carry you through Paris’s glowing heart.
Just below the Eiffel Tower, the Eiffel Tower Christmas Market transforms the Champ de Mars into a festive wonderland. Wooden chalets line the walkways selling artisanal gifts, ornaments, and delicious seasonal treats like crêpes, roasted chestnuts, and hot drinks. With the Eiffel Tower twinkling overhead and the scent of cinnamon in the air, it’s the perfect spot to pick up unique souvenirs or simply soak up the Parisian holiday spirit.
No Christmas trip to Paris is complete without visiting Galeries Lafayette, the city’s most iconic department store. Each year, the grand atrium is crowned with a breathtaking Christmas tree, often themed with whimsical decorations that delight visitors of all ages. The entire façade of the store is illuminated in spectacular light shows come evening, and the festive window displays are a visual treat.
For those who love photography and style, a Christmas photo walk through Paris is pure joy. Start at Place Vendôme, where the Ritz Paris glows with elegant decorations, and continue to Avenue Montaigne to see the sparkling façades of Dior, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton, each creating their own miniature winter wonderland. Wander down Rue Saint-Honoré for chic shop windows, and don’t forget to pass by Opéra Garnier, beautifully lit at night.
