The best Christmas displays in London’s West End
Next post
There’s no denying that 2020 has been a difficult year for us all, but thankfully the sparkly Christmas light displays have gone up around the capital, to bring some much needed joy into our lives!
Here are the displays that I love the most from this year’s collection in London’s West End. If you are not able to go and see them in person this year due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place, I hope you can enjoy them from my photos 🙂
This year, Oxford Street is lined with 27 LED ‘light curtains’ , made up of a total of 222,000 lights. Each of the displays are coordinated to portray an overall message of hope with a heartfelt poem, and to pay tribute to the strength of Londoners after this difficult year.
Londoners have also been asked by Oxford Street themselves to nominate their ‘2020 Hero’. The chosen nominees will have their name appear in the lights.
Carnaby Street never fails to impress with its unique Christmas lights displays year on year.
For 2020, Carnaby has partnered with Choose Love, a charity from Help Refugees, to create a series of lightboxes to project a message of solidarity and hope. Each individual box has a different word, such as ‘hero’, ‘together’, ‘love’, ‘wish’, ‘give’ and ‘future’.
Great photos and a wonderful blog.
