Heading to Athens? Check out the best place to stay!
Greece is one of the first countries to allow tourists back in following the Covid-19 pandemic. Are you thinking about visiting and looking for a hotel in Athens which offers a first-class service and has the most incredible views of the city? Located right near the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus, the luxurious Athens Gate Hotel is the perfect place to stay in the city.
I had the pleasure of staying here during my week in Athens earlier this year – from my spacious suite to the delicious food, from the breathtaking roof terrace views to the impeccable staff service – check out my review of the hotel!
The Athens Gate Hotel is located right in the heart of the Greek capital in the historic district of Athens, Plaka. The hotel is on Syngrou Avenue, just a 10-minute walk away from the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, and right across the road from Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Syntagma Square and Monastiraki also in close proximity.
Conveniently, a local supermarket is a few minutes walk away and there are many restaurants nearby including Indian, Italian and Greek!
Transport links are great – you can catch the metro from Akropoli Station, which is just 200 metres away from the hotel. There is a bus stop outside the hotel too.
The hotel staff – from the concierge to the waiters in the restaurant, are all very friendly and pleasant. Check in and check out were both very smooth and only took a few minutes.
The hotel interiors are very sleek, stylish and clean.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, a vast range of health and safety measures have been implemented in the hotel to ensure the wellbeing of all its staff and guests.
I upgraded to the superior suite and it was worth every cent – when I arrived, I was treated to a complimentary welcome basket with snacks, compliments of the General Manager, which was a nice touch!
The suite was very modern and spacious, and had a balcony that offered a great and unforgettable view of the Acropolis.
A range of amenities were provided by the hotel and the room also featured a LCD flatscreen TV, a refrigerator and a minibar.
The hotel’s roof terrace is definitely its selling point! It offers 360° views of the entire city with the majestic Acropolis at the forefront on one side, and the Temple of Zeus on the other, towards Mount Lycabettus.
Free breakfast is served daily on the rooftop restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating options. The food choice is plenty – from cereal and cakes, to fruit and pastries, from hot options to cold – you’ll be fully fuelled up to start each day!
There is also the option to have a full cuisine, again with plenty of choice!
