A review of the luxury Embassy Valletta Hotel

A review of the luxury Embassy Valletta Hotel

I have just returned from my trip to Malta where I chose to stay in the newly opened 4.5 star Embassy Valletta Hotel. Staying in the heart of Malta’s capital city, Valletta, was the highlight of my holiday and The Embassy Valletta Hotel met my expectations. Here’s what I loved about my stay…

Location, location, location

The Embassy Valletta Hotel is located on the iconic Strait Street, right in the centre of Valletta. No matter what direction you head from the hotel, whether it’s north, east, south, or west, the best sights of the city are on your doorstep. Conveniently, there are lots of signs to the hotel in nearby streets so you won’t miss it!

From the famous Republic Street and Upper Barrakka Gardens, to the city’s Parliament Building and the magnificent The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, there is so much to see and do within walking distance from the hotel…

Amazing rooftop

My absolute favourite spot at The Embassy Valletta Hotel is definitely the rooftop! It offers breathtaking views across Malta including of the The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Three Cities, Sliema, Mdina, Rabat and out towards the Mediterranean Sea. I witnessed both sunrise and sunset from up here and the views are something that will always stay in my mind!

The rooftop also features a heated outdoor pool!

Breakfast is also served in the rooftop restaurant, in addition to a poolside bar, with lunch and dinner options. There is a range of delicious food for breakfast, including hot and cold choices. My favourite were the fruit and dessert sections.

Covid secure

The hotel felt very COVID-19 secure, with enhanced cleanliness measures in place. There are hand sanitiser stations in the lobby and rooftop. Masks are required in all communal spaces, including when taking food at breakfast and whilst walking around the restaurant and rooftop. Gloves are also available to use when taking food supplies at breakfast. Rooms are cleaned daily and all hotel cleaning and disinfection practices are followed according to the COVID-19 Malta Protocols.

Spacious rooms

I chose to go for the deluxe double room which is really spacious and contemporary. The memory foam beds are comfortable and the bathroom features designer L’Occitane en Provence toiletries. Slippers are provided as are essentials such as a safe, iron, fridge and hairdryer. The 50-inch Smart TV is great and features all British news channels. As you cannot drink tap water in Malta, it is helpful that a complimentary refilled water jug is provided each day and there are water tanks located on each floor where guests are able to refill their bottles.

In total, there are 81 rooms in The Embassy Valletta Hotel, and these range from deluxe and superior triple and family rooms, with city views or sea views, and some also featuring a jacuzzi.

Special touches

On arrival, I was offered a complimentary drink during check-in. On another day, when I returned to my room after a day out, the luxury complimentary chocolates pictured below were left on my bedside cabinet which I thought was a really nice touch, and they were delicious too!

Services

It is worth mentioning the superspeed free wifi that is available throughout the hotel. In addition to the usual facilities you would expect of a hotel, there are a range of special services including a 24-hour fitness centre, an on-site spa, massage rooms, a cinema and a Costa!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Embassy Valletta Hotel, and would definitely recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Malta and Valletta!
