A review of Nadia Hotel, Amsterdam

During my recent trip to Amsterdam, I stayed at the Nadia Hotel. Situated in the historic quarter between the Royal Palace on Dam Square and the Westerkerk Church, this quaint, Dutch hotel is perfect for a city break.

Price

Hotel accommodation in central Amsterdam can be very pricey, but I found this hotel to be reasonably priced, considering its location, travelling during holiday season and the general prices of hotels at the moment – great value for money!

Location

The hotel is incredibly well-located – it’s about a 15-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, so easy to reach if you’re coming by Eurostar, like I did.

It’s located on Raadhuisstraat, a street in downtown Amsterdam, between Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and Prinsengracht. The hotel is situated in a pretty neighbourhood, which felt very safe, even when walking at night. It’s a short distance from tram stops, which can quickly and efficiently take you all over Amsterdam.

The Anne Frank House, the delightful Tulip Museum, and plenty of cobbled streets and photogenic canals are right on your doorstep.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, and Dam Square is only a 10-minute walk away, with lots more restaurants and shops. There is also a small Albert Heijn supermarket, a three-minute walk away from the hotel.

Hotel interior

The hotel itself is very quaint and quirky, with 52 compact rooms, and is located in a historic canal corner-building, with traditional Amsterdam shops located underneath, within the arcade. There is a real retro vibe, with wood panelling, red wallpaper, lots of plants and wooden Dutch ornaments.

There are no lifts and some very steep stairs to climb to get to the reception desk and rooms, so something to bear in mind.

Hotel staff

The hotel staff are very hardworking and friendly, and they really went above and beyond to make our stay at Nadia Hotel feel very special! They offered us a complimentary welcome drink when we checked-in.

A lovely touch was when the hotel staff surprised us with beautiful flowers for our birthdays!

They were also more than happy to assist us during our stay, including carrying luggage to our room. As checkout is at 11am, the hotel are very happy to keep luggage in the storage room

Room

As it was our birthdays, we got a free upgrade to a canal-view room, which was a really nice and unexpected gesture, as it was great sitting and watching the boats go by. The room was compact and cozy. Although the rooms are quite dated, they are still clean and pleasant. The shower worked like a dream, and the bed was nice and comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep after a day of sightseeing.

The room facilities include a TV, safe, fridge, hair dryer, free Wi-Fi and a private balcony.

Complimentary breakfast

The hotel also provides a simple but delicious, complimentary breakfast including pastries, yoghurt, fruit and drinks – a perfect selection to start the day.

I would love to travel to Amsterdam during tulip season, and will happily stay at Nadia Hotel again! Definitely consider staying here if you are visiting Amsterdam – I highly recommend and you can book your stay here 🙂
