A review of Hotel Agneshof, Nuremberg

Located within the historic city walls and beneath the Imperial Castle, fittingly sits Hotel Agneshof. Part of the Sorat Hotel group, this is a beautiful boutique hotel which is unique for its location and hospitality. I have recently returned from my Christmas stay here – continue reading to see why this is the perfect hotel to choose in Nuremberg…

Location

Hotel Agneshof is located right in the heart of Nuremberg’s Old Town and most specially, just a five-minute walk away from the Christkindlesmarkt. This is one of the oldest and most famous Christmas markets in the world! But that’s not all as many of the city’s other sights and attractions such as the Imperial Castle, Albrecht Dürer’s House, Sebald Church, the Toy Museum, the German National Museum and Maxbrücke Bridge are all located within walking distance.

The hotel is in the most preserved quarter of Nuremberg, hidden away on the quiet Agnesgasse.

There are great transport links in the area, with Rathenauplatz Station a 15-minute walk away and the Burgstraße bus stop just a five-minute walk from Hotel Agneshof.

Hotel staff

The hotel staff are really pleasant and helpful, with superb hospitality provided to all guests. I arrived at the hotel just before midnight as my flight was delayed, but this did not prove to be a problem when checking-in, as the front desk staff were around and swiftly organised my check-in and helpfully chatted through about the features of the hotel, and essentials such as WiFi and breakfast times.

Lobby, bar and conference facilities

The lobby is spacious and I especially loved the Mediterranean-style vibe throughout the hotel lobby. The Christmas decorations were also a really welcome touch. There is a lobby bar adjacent to the reception area and facilities for conferences and business meetings too – this includes a function room for up to 30 people, with meeting essentials, food and drinks provided.

Courtyard Garden

The hotel boasts a beautiful courtyard garden, which when the weather is warm, would be a great spot to sit on the deckchairs, chill and enjoy the sun. It was snowing during my stay, which made the garden look particularly enchanting.

Room

Hotel Agneshof has 74 contemporary-style guest rooms, including a suite. All rooms have free high-speed WiFi, a TV, phone, a hair dryer, and a convenient safe. The hotel provides a free bottle of mineral water, alongside bathroom amenities, with great quality soap and shampoo.

The rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable. Some offer views of the Imperial Castle or the inner courtyard, like mine.

Even though I visited in mid-December when the outside temperature was -10C, the rooms were really warm, thanks to the centrally-controlled heating system in the hotel.

Breakfast

The buffet breakfast is exceptional, with an abundance of choice to suit everyone’s needs. From cereals, fruits and pastries, to hot food options, you will be spoilt for choice. The breakfast attendants were very smiley, polite and welcoming, and offered guests hot drinks too.

For all these reasons, if you are planning a trip to Nuremberg, I highly recommend you stay at Hotel Agneshof!
