The perfect hotel in Iceland – a review of Hotel Klettur, Reykjavik
Hotel Klettur is one of Iceland’s best hotels, which has been designed to celebrate the country’s natural landscapes. From its interior design and prime location, to the modern comfort of the rooms and delicious breakfast, continue reading to see why this is the perfect place to stay, where Icelandic aesthetic meets ultimate comfort.
Upon taking my first steps into Hotel Klettur, I was instantly drawn to its furnishings and Scandinavian colour scheme, which get their inspiration from Iceland’s unique natural landscapes.
Klettur means ‘boulder’ or ‘large rock’, which really lives up to its name on the first floor, where the stone literally pops out of the walls.
The hotel is ideally located in downtown Reykjavik, close to the city’s main sights, restaurants, supermarkets, blue lagoons, the picturesque harbour, bus stops and pick-up stops for tours around Iceland. The airport transfer, Flybus, also has an option to stop directly at the hotel, which I found really handy, especially with luggage and the unpredictable weather.
Hotel Klettur’s rooms are clean and spacious with perfectly equipped amenities, facilities and breathtaking views.
The hotel has six floors, each with its own lounge. The 166 rooms are perfectly equipped with modern amenities, including with coffee and tea-making facilities, a safe, refrigerator, flat-screen TV, free WiFi and a hair dryer.
The stylish and spacious superior rooms are located on the top two floors, which also feature separate seating areas and amazing views of the sea.
The hotel boasts a game room with a pool table, a bar, and a northern lights ‘selfie corner’. These are really cool perks, which enhance the guests experience of staying at Hotel Klettur.
A continental breakfast full of variety is available for all guests in the spacious dining room, the perfect fuel needed to start your day travelling around Iceland. This includes fresh fruit, cereals and baked foods. The breakfast area got really busy at peak times, so if you aren’t bound by hitting the road at a specific time, it’s worth going first thing at 7am or after 9am.
