Each night of my stay at Bob W Kluuvi was eco-friendly, with the apartment powered by 100% renewable energy, installed with energy-saving smart home controls, free of single-use plastics, biodegradable toiletries, minimising waste and recycling facilities. Bob further reduces the impact on the environment by double offsetting emissions and emitting less from the outset. Furniture is all locally sourced and designed beautifully by Finnish brands.

Central location

Bob W is the perfect choice for travellers who want to stay in sustainably handpicked neighbourhoods.

Bob W Kluuvi is a brand new property in Helsinki, which opened in summer 2022. It is located in a really convenient area, with excellent transport links – in the buzzing Kluuvi micro-neighbourhood, above the University of Helsinki metro station, in front of multiple tram stops, and only 200 metres away from Helsinki Central Station.

It is also just a 10-minute walk away from Helsinki’s iconic sites such as Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square.

In addition, there are a range of shops, restaurants, and one of the main commercial streets in the city, Aleksanterinkatu, is located just a few minutes walk away.

I got to experience the authenticity of the local neighbourhood, thanks to the apartment’s perfectly-chosen location.

Contactless access

There is no front desk, so access to the apartment is 100% contactless. I received my 24/7 keyless door code via WhatsApp before my arrival, and although there are no staff on-site, Bob’s customer support team is super helpful and available 24/7 via email and WhatsApp, providing quick replies to guests who have any queries. This contactless hospitality works perfectly! I also received my breakfast vouchers and WiFi code smoothly via email.

Before I arrived, the apartment was cleaned and disinfected, and then sealed for my protection and peace of mind, providing reassurance against COVID-19.

Spacious and cozy rooms

My ‘roomy’ studio apartment was really spacious, with a premium queen-size bed, an additional sofa bed, luxury pillows and duvets, and blackout blinds, making for a cosy and comfortable stay. The en-suite bathroom was perfect, with great quality bathroom amenities. My room was well equipped with essentials including a hair dryer, kettle, fridge and a Samsung smart TV. The super-speedy WiFi throughout the property was excellent, better than at home!

Fully equipped shared kitchen

The shared kitchen was also really handy, where I was able to make my lunch and dinner. Organic tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided, which was great to warm up during the cold Helsinki winter. Other food products such as porridge, bread, apples and chocolates were also freely provided, as were all amenities and kitchen essentials, such as a toaster, dishwasher, microwave and stove. A washing machine was also available for use, next to the kitchen. An added bonus in the kitchen were games and books, all contributing to a home-like vibe! It was also great to meet and chat with like-minded travellers in the kitchen.

Custom Finnish interior design

Fun fact – 50% of Bob’s furniture is made within 400km of their apartments – sustainability in action!

Bob W Kluuvi’s interiors and furniture are all locally sourced and designed by the coolest local Finnish brands like Hakola and Artek, drawing inspiration from Helsinki’s past, present and future. The premium Finnish beds are from Matri, topped with cushions featuring a custom print by local artist Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelo.

Treats

The cherry on the top was being greeted to a range of treats, which made my stay even more special. These included a retro games console, reusable water bottles, a tote bag, and a polaroid camera, perfect for roaming and capturing my Helsinki memories! Bob W definitely go the extra mile to make everyone’s stay five-star worthy.

Delicious breakfast

With Bob W, guests have the option to pre-purchase breakfast at one of Bob’s favourite neighbourhood cafés, all located just a few minutes away from the apartment. I really loved this real demonstration by Bob W of contributing to local businesses. I had traditional Finnish breakfasts at Fazer Café and Espresso House, both of which provided the yummiest food to start the day, and not to mention their stunning interiors…

Fitness on the road

Bob prioritises health and wellbeing, so as a guest at Bob W Kluuvi, I was given complimentary access to a local gym and online access to Yogaia, with a gym card and yoga mats provided in my room. Local jogging routes were also highlighted. These were a really welcomed touch and I could see from speaking to other guests, how much everyone enjoyed these fitness perks.
